Wow...
Tinkerbell is one popular lady! I get lots of emails about
this artwork... so read my lips: This
artwork is not for sale! I designed and created
this hanging stained glass artwork of
Tinkerbell years ago as a wedding
present for my ex-wife's sister and brother-in-law.
So, if you're interested in commissioning
Tinkerbelle in stained glass, you should know that this artwork would
sell for about $3500.00 today. And, of course, with stained glass
there's always the option of other Tink designs in other price ranges.
This artwork measures 30
inches in diameter, and hangs without a wooden frame. To
give this Tinkerbell artwork the rigidity it will need to
stand the test of
time, I
used zinc came around the outer edge. Sometimes, additional support is
achieved by soldering steel support bars to the back side
of artworks like this that have no wood frame, although that
was not necessary here.
A blue flash glass was used
here for the background, allowing the stars to be sandblasted into it
(at Tinkerbell's feet). The round pieces are all faceted glass "jewels"
in various colors. As I researched and designed this stained glass
artwork, I came to the realization that Tinkerbell is almost exactly
like Wilma Flintstone, only Tink has wings and shoes! |
