In the
fall of 2023, I was
asked to make a stained glass artwork that would add privacy to the large front window of a
house on a busy street. The
image above shows the result.
The approximate size is five feet wide and four feet high.
I used
three sizes of lead came in this artwork, 1/4" 3/8"
and 3/4."
This was part of a home remodel, and was actually replacing an
older stained glass artwork that was mounted in a wood frame and
hanging in
this same window. For this new stained glass artwork, I constructed a
new wood frame that would replace the old one, and both the old and the
new covered the entire window.
The new decor called for very little color, hence the use of many
textured clear glasses. The new decor also relied on black, white, and
gray accents (the white pieces look gray and the gray pieces look brown
in this photo)
