This
contemporary stained glass window is one of my favorite
commissioned artworks. Although many people automatically think of
"bevels" when they think of art-glass windows with no color, this
artwork uses all clear, textured
glasses and NO beveled glass. This abstract stained glass achieved the
clients' desires to (1) allow
maximum light to enter, (2) diffuse the light so it wouldn't fade the
carpet or furnishings, (3) obscure the view of the house next door, and
(4) add some dynamic art to the room and to the house's exterior. This
leaded glass artwork was mounted high up on the living room wall (the
photo is taken from a second story balcony).
I also
made two small matching windows that were
mounted in the upstairs and downstairs bathroom showers... all three
could be seen from the street, tying together the abstract window art
to the unique architecture of the house's exterior.
Although
I try to replace the poorer photos on my web
site over time, I have been reluctant to get rid of this one because it
was the first time I came up with this design idea (back in the 1980s).
I lived in California at the time, so I do not have the option of
re-taking this photo. However, it is a popular design in that I have
been asked to do versions of it several times. A newer version of this
design (and a much better photo) can be seen here.
