Here
are two
panels mounted on
either side of a front
door for an impressive beveled entryway. The client wanted no colored
glass and a significant amount of privacy.
The small squares in this design
are all 2 x 2
inch beveled squares.
Because
bevels are sometimes not private enough for a residential entryway, we
decided to use glue chipped bevels. This was also a good
choice because
the major background glass was also glue chipped clear glass.
I used 1/4" and 1/2" lead came to
add interest
to this design. I
replaced some of the long straight lines with zinc came so that these
panels would be strong enough without having to add additional support
bars to the back side of these panels.
All of the lead, zinc, and solder
were darkened
with a black patina.
