This depiction of a
Ninja
warrior was
commissioned to commemorate the 25th anniversary of a Kusa Dojo.
I was given a business card and a 3"
embroidered patch
from which to design this artwork. The turquoise lettering (in the
circle) is sandblasted into turquoise-on-clear flash glass that has
been backed by a second layer of very pale lavender colored glass
(called "double glazing"). The lettering in the rectangular space is
sandblasted into black-on-white flash glass. The facial
features, the shafts of wheat, and the grasses in the
background are overlays of lead and zinc. A Black patina was applied to
ensure that the overlays and the leadlines would all look the same, and
that these would compliment the use of black glass in the pants, boots
and hair.
Although the rectangular emblem (with the
white
lettering) doesn't look level, that's only my poor photographic skills.
Tilt your head to the right 2 degrees... see... now it's level! |
