Automotive
art literally takes off
in this freehanging stained glass artwork depicting a Lamborghini
Countach, which is currently for sale. This piece is constructed using
the copper foil method (see the Craftsmanship Page for a detailed
explanation). As with all of my stained glass artworks, the soldered
covered copper foil in this example of automotive art has been
patina-ed a uniform charcoal grey. The round pieces are faceted glass
"jewels" in various sizes and colors. Although the background (the part
with the latitude and longitude lines) is much brighter and more
colorful than it appears here, it was impossible to retouch the scanned
image. The words "Lamborghini" and "Countach" are sandblasted into
black-on-white flash glass. There is no wood frame, so this artwork is
strengthened by zinc came around the outer edge and steel support bars
on the back side that have been well hidden by bending them to follow
the outer edges of the artwork.
Overall size is about 30
inches wide by 26 inches high. This, like all of my artworks, is a
one-of-a-kind
piece and is perfectly crafted. It is ready to hang, and comes with
plenty of
braided wire and screw-eyes for easy hanging from your wood, metal, or
plaster sash window sill.
